Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 10, 2026

ReyLocalAI (“the app”) is built by 402Labs on one principle: your conversations belong to you. This policy describes what the app does with data — which is, almost entirely, nothing that leaves your device.

What we collect

Nothing. ReyLocalAI has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no tracking of any kind. We — the developers — never receive, see, or store your conversations, documents, memory, or any other personal data.

What stays on your device

All of the following is stored only in the app’s private container on your device, protected by iOS data protection (encrypted at rest):

  • Conversations and chat history
  • The “memory” facts the assistant saves (you can view and delete every one in Settings)
  • Documents you import into the knowledge base, their indexed text, and generated summaries
  • Your settings and routing preferences
  • API keys you add, which are stored in the iOS Keychain

Deleting the app deletes all of this data.

On-device processing

By default, AI responses are generated on your device, either by Apple’s on-device Foundation Model (Apple Intelligence) or by an open-source model you download into the app. In LOCAL ONLY mode, the app performs no network inference of any kind.

Voice queries from Apple Watch are transcribed with on-device speech recognition and answered by the paired iPhone locally. They are never sent to a server by the app.

Optional network features (off by default, you configure them)

ReyLocalAI can route requests to services you choose to set up. These are disabled until you configure and enable them:

  1. Your own server HOME — If you connect a self-hosted server (e.g. Ollama or LM Studio on your Mac), your message text and the assistant’s context are sent to that server of yours. The app asks for the iOS local network permission to do this.
  2. Cloud providers CLOUD — If you add your own API key for Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini and enable LOCAL → CLOUD mode, then — only when local engines can’t answer, and only after you explicitly consent in-app — your message text is sent to that provider under their privacy terms (Anthropic, Google). By default the app strips your saved memory and document context from cloud requests; you can enable sharing them in Settings. Every response generated off-device is labeled (HOME or CLOUD) in the chat.
  3. Model downloads — Downloading an open-source model fetches model weights from Hugging Face’s content delivery network. This transfers no personal data beyond the network request itself.

Apple services

  • Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models responses are generated on-device by the operating system.
  • Purchases (402/PRO) are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We receive no payment or identity information. Entitlements are verified on-device.
  • Notifications (reminders you ask the assistant to set) are scheduled locally on your device.

Children

ReyLocalAI is not directed at children. AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate or unsuitable for young children; the App Store age rating reflects this.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, changes would only ever describe new optional, user-configured features.
